Hybrid teas are the most popular type of rose, referring to a category of roses that were originally created by cross-breeding Hybrid Perpetual and Tea roses. This means they are both hardy and typically repeat flower, producing large, shapely flowers that open from high-centred buds on long, straight stems.
Their stems are usually prickly and their glossy, green leaves have toothed edges. Rose flowers vary in size and shape. They burst with colours ranging from pastel pink, peach, and cream, to vibrant yellow, orange, and red. Many roses are fragrant, and some produce berry-like fruits called hips.
The most recent Hybrid Tea rose cultivars are mainly upright (1-2 m tall) with mostly single, well-shaped flowers with high spiralling centres at the end of long stems; sturdy, often shiny petals; characteristic pointed buds; large glossy or semi-glossy leaves; and strong stems
