Vermicompost is the product of the decomposition process using various species of worms, usually red wigglers, white worms, and other earthworms, to create a mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, bedding materials, and vermicast.

Recycling food and other organic waste into compost provides a range of environmental benefits, including improving soil health, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, recycling nutrients, and mitigating the impact of droughts.

Compost can be prepared within a concrete tank or mud pit. Organic waste from kitchen, garden or crop fields is collected and placed in the sun for about 8-12 days. The collected waste is then kept in that pit for decomposition. A layer of soil is then put after a few layers of waste in an alternate manner.
